Chicken coop

My dear friend Joe is a framer and bless his soul, he is helping me with my mobile chicken coop. My Father-in-law just tore out some was in his house and had available wood to use. My husband Kyle, helps us by stopping us from over thinking things.

Every weekend Joe stops by and donates a hour or two of his free time to helping me.
It is turning out way bigger than we originally planned. However, we have little tractor tires that we are putting on it so it should still be pretty easy to push around the property.

I am beyond excited with the way it is turning out. All of it so far has been made with free or donated material. I did misplace the hinges I thought I had so I may be buying some.
The ten chickens, feed, gravel, water container, feed tray, and heat lamp all cost $70.

I heard to use pine so I'm using 100% pine cat litter and it is working really well.
I moved the chickens in today. Now all we need is the wheels on next weekend and will be ready to graze in protection. For now they are still too little to go out so it does not really need wheels yet. The chicks are four weeks old today.

Veggie overload Thai delight

Sauté sliced and diced veggies. Add sauce. We mix the sauces and fix it up to our own liking aka spicier. Start with the Thai sauce and go from there. A little of this and a little of that. Serve over rice or noodles.

Breakfast flowers

Brodie is always looking for new ways to eat eggs. We found this on pinterest so we thought we would give it a try.

Three pieces of Canadian bacon and one egg per muffin cup.
I scramble eggs with salt, pepper, cheese, and worstershire.
I greased the muffin pan and preheated the oven to 350*
Place three pieces of meat in muffin tin and fill evenly with egg.
Bake for twenty minutes.
Brodie ate them on English muffins.
This is easy and allows me more time for being a short order cook.

Banana bread

Yummy!!!!!

D and I made banana bread today. It is so easy and makes a quick and healthy snack.

I doubled the recipe because we had ten bananas that needed to be used.

First, start with ripe bananas.

Second, preheat oven to 350*

Third, smash bananas. I use a potato masher but I had squished them in a big ziplock before.

Fourth, mix:
-4-5 mashed bananas
-2 cups of flour
-1 cup sugar (I use half white & half brown)
-2 large eggs
-1/2 cup veg oil
-1 tsp baking powder
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 tsp vanilla

Pour into 1 greased (rubbed down with oil) bread pan or muffin tins.

Bake for one hour. Poke with toothpick, if it comes out clean it's done. If not done set and check again in 5 minutes.

Additions:
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cups chocolate chips
Really whatever you think would be good. Raisins, craisins, cinnamon, whatever.............do not add too much of any thing as it can mess up how much moisture is in the dough.

Toddler tracing

I put a piece of paper in a ziplock bag. Let all the air out and let Damien draw on it with a dry erase marker. Then I wrote his name on the paper and then put it back in its plastic home. Damien had so much fun tracing his name. He has been having trouble with his m's and n's. This gave him the boost of confidence he needed.

Easy, fun, and disposable. My favorite kind of crafts.

Old T-shirt necklace

I took the sleeve of an old shirt and then cut it so it was even and paralleled.
I then cut 3/4 inch strips lengthwise. Not all the way through, I stop cutting when I reached the seam.
Once it was all cut, I stretched each sting out. The seam that was all still together I tied in a knot because i wanted it to be shorter. The knot kinda looks like a bow.
It turned out super cute. And took me about a minute to make.
